Speaker biographies
Dr Trevor Jarrett
BDSc (Hons)
Dr Trevor Jarrett graduated from the University of Queensland in 1981 with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours). He is general dentist that has been using dental dam routinely for restorative procedures for 43 years. Trevor is an active member of the dental community, lecturing for the ADA, providing clinical mentorship to younger dentists and inviting other dentists and students to his practice to observe his techniques.
Dr Michael Yoon
BDSc (Hons), DCD, FRACDS
Dr Michael Yoon completed his specialist endodontic training in 2012 at the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS).
Michael has served as a committee member and was a past-President of the ASE (Vic Branch). He was also on the committee of the Victorian and Tasmanian branch of the RACDS. He continues to share his passion for endodontics by maintaining his regular teaching role at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Daniel Felman
BDSc (Hons), DCD, FRACDS (Endo)
Dr Felman achieved a Bachelor of Dental Science graduating with Honours at the University of Melbourne in 2001. During several years of general practice, Dr Felman developed a keen interest in endodontics and completed his specialist training in the field in 2010 with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry, also at the University of Melbourne.
As a registered specialist endodontist Dr Felman achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). He is also a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists (ANZAE), the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT). He also serves on the Victorian committee of the Australian Society of Endodontology (ASE Vic).
Complementing his full-time private practice commitments, Dr Felman is the Endodontic Specialist Consultant at Monash Medical Centre.He lectures widely, both locally and nationally, teaches endodontics at the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University, and maintains a special interest in the management of complex traumatic dental injuries.
Lecture synopses
Improved restorative outcomes with dental dam- reduced pulpal complications (Dr Trevor Jarrett)
Dr Jarrett will provide a brief synopsis of his approach to dental dam application and the rationale for using dental dam. An overview of his approach to caries freeing and restoring deep carious lesions from the perspective of avoiding pulpal intervention and maintaining pulpal vitality will de discussed. The lecture will showcase restoration of several complex cases with specific reference to dental dam technique.
Management of calcified canals (Dr Michael Yoon)
Managing calcified canals is one of the challenges clinicians encounter during endodontic treatment. Techniques and strategies in navigating calcified canals will be discussed.
