Associate Prof. Dr. Jeeraphat Jantarat

DDS, MDSc (Endodontics), PhD

Associate Prof. Dr. Jeeraphat Jantarat received her DDS from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, MDSc in Endodontics, and PhD in Dental Science from University of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Jantarat became a Diplomate of Thai Board of Endodontics in 2007 and received Honorary Indian Board of Endodontics in 2022.

She is currently Associate Professor in Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, Thailand, and Past President of Endodontic Association of Thailand.

Dr. Jantarat serves as IFEA Board of Directors member: Regent Asia (2022–present), as well as APEC President-Elect. She received Young Educator Award from the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, in 2002 and Distinguished Alumni Award from Prince of Songkla University in 2016. Mahidol University honored her as outstanding lecturer in 2017. Dr. Jantarat received Distinguished Dentist Award 2024 from Thai Dental Council and recently received Distinguished Endodontist award from Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Thailand in 2025. In 2026, she also received Outstanding Academic Staff Award of Mahidol University.

Dr. Jantarat has contributed to many research projects and was awarded IFEA Jean-Marie Laurichesse Research Grant Award in 2014. She also received the Innovation Research Award 2021 in Medical Science from the National Research Council of Thailand. She is the winner of JOE best article award in Regenerative Endodontics 2025.

She has lectured extensively in Thailand and at international events in Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Chile, India, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and the USA.

Her main research interests focus on regenerative endodontics and endodontic materials. Dr. Jantarat also serves as reviewer for national and international journals such as the Journal of Endodontics, Australian Endodontic Journal, International Dental Journal, and the Italian dental journal Annali di Stomatologia.

Lecture Synopsis 

Regenerative endodontics has transformed the management of immature permanent teeth with pulpal necrosis by shifting treatment goals from apical closure toward biologically driven healing and continued root maturation. This lecture presents the evolution of the Mahidol Study series, representing nearly two decades of clinical and translational research in regenerative endodontics conducted at Mahidol University.

The lecture will review the scientific and clinical development of regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs), beginning with early comparative outcome studies against conventional apexification approaches, followed by long-term evaluation of treatment outcomes and prognostic factors in a large clinical cohort. Emphasis will be placed on factors influencing healing, root development, sensibility recovery, and functional tooth retention, together with emerging evidence related to irrigation protocols, scaffold biology, biomaterial selection, and treatment-related adverse events.

By integrating clinical data with laboratory investigations, this presentation aims to provide practical insights into optimising REP protocols and highlight future directions toward biologically enhanced and evidence-based regenerative endodontic treatment.

Dr Scott Murphy

BDS (Distn) (Otago) FRACDS (GDP)

Dr Scott Murphy graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction from the University of Otago in 2014, where he was awarded prizes in Periodontology, Prosthodontics and Endodontics. Following graduation, he spent two years working at Hutt Valley Hospital in the public health sector before transitioning to private practice in 2017. He is currently in his third year of postgraduate specialist training in Endodontics at the University of Melbourne. Alongside his specialist training, he is a Clinical Lecturer in the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program, where he is actively involved in lecturing, clinical teaching and examination. In 2024, he also assisted in establishing the DDS4 Mentor Program to support final-year dental students.

Dr Murphy is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), serves as a Regional Committee Member, and is an examiner for the Membership in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS). His current research on dental trauma has been selected for the Clinical Prize presentation at the upcoming International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) World Endodontic Congress. In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr Murphy has participated in dental volunteering both internationally and within New Zealand. He has a strong interest in translating contemporary evidence and clinical principles into practical approaches that can be applied in everyday dental practice.
